What is dyslexia?

Learning to read is important for success both in school and later in life. While many children learn to read without problems, some children have trouble developing this skill even when there are no other learning problems present. This struggle with learning to read is called dyslexia. Children with dyslexia have a particularly hard time understanding how the sounds of letters match up with the letter’s physical appearance. This understanding, the child’s phonological awareness, relates to how well s/he can learn to read and spell.

You can read a little bit about what dyslexia is, what the symptoms are, and how it can affect one's life here.
